Skill/Will Matrix
The Skill Will Matrix is tool you can use to determine actions you can take on an employee based on their skill level and will level.
If your employee has high level of skills and a high level of will, they’re considered High Performers, as you can see in the top right.
These people don’t need hand-holding, they need and want a challenge.
These are the folks you definitely want to delegate to, and they’re need very little guidance.
You just tell them the what, and they’ll figure out the how, and more, on their own.
If your employee has low level of skills, but high level of will, they’re consider Contributors.
Sometimes, these folks are newer in their role and are still learning.
You can also delegate to them, but know that you may need to do a little more training and hand-holding at the beginning.
They may have more questions, and you may need to follow up with them more often to review their progress.
Now, if you have someone highly skilled and low will, they’re the Disengaged Experts.
And someone who is low skill and low will are the Low Performers.
